Sus contribuciones al desarrollo de las bater\u00edas de litio allanaron el camino para crear celulares inteligentes y lograr una sociedad menos dependiente de los combustibles f\u00f3siles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John Goodenough, galardonado en 2019 con el premio Nobel de Qu\u00edmica junto a otros dos cient\u00edficos por desarrollar las bater\u00edas de litio, muri\u00f3 a los 100 a\u00f1os, inform\u00f3 la Universidad de Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El cient\u00edfico falleci\u00f3 el domingo, indic\u00f3 la universidad, en la que trabaj\u00f3 durante 37 a\u00f1os, en la escuela Cockrell de Ingenier\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sus contribuciones al desarrollo de las bater\u00edas de litio allanaron el camino para crear celulares inteligentes y lograr una sociedad menos dependiente de los combustibles f\u00f3siles, remarc\u00f3 la agencia de noticias AFP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John Goodenough se convirti\u00f3 en la persona m\u00e1s anciana en ganar un premio Nobel en 2019, cuando, a sus 97 a\u00f1os, comparti\u00f3 el galard\u00f3n de Qu\u00edmica con el brit\u00e1nico Stanley Whittingham y con el japon\u00e9s Akira Yoshino, por la invenci\u00f3n de la bater\u00eda de litio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/elonce-media.elonce.com\/fotos-nuevo\/2023\/06\/27\/o_1687862425.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;El legado de John como un cient\u00edfico brillante es inconmensurable: sus descubrimientos mejoraron las vidas de millones de personas en todo el mundo&#8221;, declar\u00f3 Jay Hartzell, presidente de la Universidad de Texas en Austin, en un comunicado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Buscando una fuente alternativa de energ\u00eda durante la crisis del petr\u00f3leo de los a\u00f1os 1970, Stanley Whittingham descubri\u00f3 una manera de aprovechar la energ\u00eda potencial del litio, un metal tan ligero que flota en el agua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sin embargo, la bater\u00eda que construy\u00f3 era demasiado inestable como para ser usada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Goodenough trabaj\u00f3 a partir del prototipo de Witthigham y logr\u00f3 duplicar la energ\u00eda potencial de la bater\u00eda hasta cuatro voltios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En 1985, Yoshino utiliz\u00f3 un material basado en el carbono que almacena iones de litio y que, al final, hizo que la comercializaci\u00f3n de las bater\u00edas fuese viable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gracias a los trabajos de investigaci\u00f3n de los tres cient\u00edficos se lograron las bater\u00edas recargables m\u00e1s potentes y ligeras creadas hasta ahora.
